Description

The most difficult of the shooting fundamentals are grip, trigger control and aiming. This course is designed to focus extensively on these three fundamentals using SIRT laser training pistols from Next Level Training. There will be no firearms or ammunition allowed in the classroom!

This course is approximately six hours, covering the following objectives:

  • Focus on firearms safety.
  • Develop a proper grip for shooting a pistol.
  • Examine the physiology of movement of the fingers and the somewhat incompatible movement of the trigger, learning how to properly perform take-up, trigger break and trigger reset.
  • Develop proper sight alignment and sight picture.
  • Incorporate all of these into effective practical application.
  • Develop the considerations and skills needed for drawing from a holster.
  • Develop and practice magazine reloads.
  • Develop a personal dry-fire program that can be used at home.

The SIRT pistols are modeled after the Glock 17 and have removable weighted inert magazines. During the course, we will perform magazine reload drills as part of our shooting regimen to help instill this into your shooting mindset. The holsters are Blackhawk SERPA paddle holsters. Both are pictured below.

There is no live fire to this course. Although it fulfills the requirements for a Colorado concealed handgun permit, we recommend taking a class that includes live fire if you are looking for appropriate training for a Colorado CHP!
